Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and what you’ve been up to lately?
My name is Jessica, I am 34 years old and I live with my husband and our 2 cats (Fenriz & Elliott) in Clermont-Ferrand in the center of France. I am a communication manager in a veterinary pharmaceutical laboratory. I have an Instagram account and a blog under the name of Gimme Shelter where I share my daily life and my passion for decoration and design.
How do you relax after a stressful day?
Normally I go to a yoga or pilates class or a ceramics class with the talented Capi (@capilatelier). But as we are confined again, I just read a good graphic novel or listen to a vinyl.
What do you do in your spare time?
When the weather is nice I love to go for walks in my beautiful region which has an extraordinary volcanic heritage. I also like to walk around town and meet my friends in cafes and bars (I’m a big fan of craft beer). I’m also one of those people who love to stay at home and just relax!
How would you describe your own interior style?
Design and warmth. I’m a fan of silkscreen and ceramics so there’s a lot of that here. I also like from time to time to offer myself a strong room like a String bookcase, a Vitra chair or like very recently a Togo chair because I know that these are quality objects that will remain with me for a very long time. We live in a house built 100 years ago and I like very much the contrast of modern things with our little old house.
Would you rather stay home or party? (pre-corona time;))
I like hanging out at home as much as I like meeting my friends in a pub for a crazy night out.
Are you a slob or do you prefer to keep things clean and tidy?
I like to keep my house tidy I have trouble enjoying and relaxing when it’s messy.
What’s the strangest thing your cats have ever done?
I remember one time in the kitchen they chewed on milk bottles and then ripped open the litter box. So the litter box had completely absorbed the spilled milk all over the place. A half-forgiven mischief because it was half fixed! Otherwise Elliott regularly likes to eat my plants and splash around in his water bowl as if he were at the pool.
Do you like to spoil your cat(s) with toys or gadgets?
Yes, I do. Especially buying them bedding and scratching pads, I think it’s important that they have something that’s only for them in the house.
